Day Ten

Well, a little late posting today's (ahem, yesterday's) progress, but that was because I stayed up way too late working on dresses. Honestly. I think it was somewhere around 3 am when I finally put down the knitting and visited my pillow. LOL. Needless to say, I didn't feel like wanting to update with pictures last night.

Wanted to share some other pictures quickly before getting on to my progress on the dresses (which is why I know most people reading my blog are read my blog right now, but that's okay, at least I have readers). I actually got some cleaning (small may it be) done yesterday now that the six month long remodel (that should have taken less than a week) is done on my apartment!!!!! YEAH!!!! A semi-before (because I forgot to take a picture of the mess before I tossed it on my bed) and an after picture of my yarn stash mess:

I know it still looks cluttered, but believe me, it's actually a lot neater than it was prior. And that was only straightening the solo bucket. The two stacked buckets have been stacked for a while.

Princess Dresses

Okay, now that I shared my little happiness moment of actually getting some cleaning done, here's some pictures of the dresses. Okay, well, really, just one dress because I started making Belle's Christmas dress last night and the yarn was so pretty, I was mesmorized. :)

Okay, yarn pictures time! Here's after just a couple of rows. Why the third DPN you crafters will ask?

It helps me cheat on the Make 1! LOL. I have the hardest time twisting my left needle down to catch the correct yarn loop for the Make 1 and then to twist the right hook in to knit it. Ugh. But working the Make 1 with a spare DPN works so much better!

And here's a picture of the piece on the doll just before I spread it onto DPNs to work in the round. Now, I  know that you are thinking that doesn't look like the bodice of the Christmas dress in the picture above, and you would be right. I couldn't find a pattern that would work for the design of Belle's Christmas dress, so I'm having to make it in two parts. I will make the maron part using a shurg pattern and then sewing the two pieces together. Maybe I can figure out a pattern for it eventually, but right now, I'm not that advanced of a knitter.

And here is the last picture before I started the skirt portion. Yes, it's free from the working yarn right now because I had to start with the maron on the skirt. I'm fairly excited as to how this worked....

Because the color change just looked way too cool!!!!! I know it's a little hard to see in this picture, but it's just after having added the maron yarn for the skirt.

And here's my fun set up. Strings galore!!!! Have to watch out for tangling for sure. If you look, you can see in the center of the piece where the gold yarn is continuting down for the front portion of the skirt.

And here it is turned into the round and a few more rows. The gold yarn does seem to be a flap in this picture, but I promise you it's not. It's actually worked in the round with the rest of the skirt. This is how far I got last night until I looked up and saw that it was 3 am and I figured I better go to bed.

Here's a close up of the center skirt portion. I love how clean a color change occurs in knitting, not anything like in crochet.

And one last picture for postarity. The three dresses currently on the needle. Pardon the center doll being sitting. She has on the completed white blouse and apron for the blue jumper outfit and therefore doesn't require a stand, which is good, because I currently only have two doll stands. The brunette is, of course, sporting the yellow ball gown and the red head has the Christmas dress on.

And now that I have this blog  updated, I'm going to get back to crafting! Have some crocheting to do today, but mostlly, I'm going to see what I can do to work on these dresses. Once I finished the Christmas dress, I can move on to make Belle's pink dress, but seeing as I need the maron yarn for both and I only have the one ball, I have to wait. I should be back later tonight with another update for today's work (unless I stay  up way too late again tonight, which might be a possiblity since I had the weekend and tomorrow off from work).
