Hi Ho Hi Ho It's Off To Knitting I Go

Okay, no, before you even get the thought, I haven't started on Snow White yet. It just seemed an appropriate title. I did get another dress started yesterday, but more about that in a minute.

So, the reason I didn't post this update when I got off work? Yeah. Stupid construction. Nail in my tire. Tire went flat. Thought I would just have to deal with getting the tire fixed, just maybe a thirty minute or so inconvience. Stupid nail was in the side wall of the tire. I had to get a brand new tire. Ugh. So 2 1/2 hours later I left the tire place. The good part of the whole ordeal is that the tire place gave me a really good deal on the replacement tire.

And one more rambling thought before I get on to updating about the dresses. Did you know that the Vulcans like to visit our resturants? Here, I have proof. "Live long and prosper" anyone?

Okay, sorry, that was just funny. Here is the updates for the dresses. Not to many pictures, but I do have quite a bit of progress to report. Belle's green dress is coming along fairly nicely. The skirt is also gaining stitches very quickly - it seems like so much more quickly than before, even though it still is only eight stitches every other row which is being added. Here is just a couple of rows more done from the last picture in my previous post and already the stitches are threatening to come off the needles.

So I added a sixth DPN to the skirt. Even at six, the needles are still pretty crowded. I will add another couple of DPNs to it before all is said and done. I think that I am creating a dress to hide the Russian circus - to borrow a line from Anastasia.

And her is the dress being displayed the best I could on Ariel with the number of needles that is in the skirt. You can kind of see how the skirt will drape nicely now as it is longer.

I worked on this dress a little bit more yesterday evening. It wasn't too much longer before I had to add a seventh DPN into the skirt, which spreads out nicely now for taking top shot pictures.

The needles - as you can tell in the picture above - make it hard to drape the dress nicely on the doll right now, so here is the dress hanging from my fingers. The skirt looks like it is going to taper out like a ball gown, but the lack of tacks (created by a rib stitch every few rows) will allow it to flow straight and pretty.

And again on Ariel for safe keeping. The skirt looks a mess on her right now because of the excess of needles in it.

I also spent some time working on Aurora's ball gown, though I didn't take any in progress photos this time, just a picture after my work. Now the points on the skirt waist are more defined as the dark blue of the skirt increases.

And I procured an Aurora doll!!!! Yippee!!!! I think the dresses just look so much more real on the doll of the actual princess which owns the dress.

And Aurora received more attention yesterday too. I cannot find a pattern satisfactory enough to my liking for her peasant dress (which also happens to be the same design as Ariel's blue outing dress and pretty close to Rapunzel's main purple dress and Tiana's costume ball dress - not the blue ball gown she changes in to, the other one before she gets the food all over her), soooooooo, I'm going to have to design the dress. Gulp. I hope it turns out. I liked working the bodice from the waist up on Belle's pink dress, so that's the design I decided to go with for the peasant dress. No in progress pictures again, just final work pictures. I didn't get very far last night before I was ready to go to bed.

Since she is no longer sporting Aurora's blue ball gown, Snow White is now sporting the peasant dress. I think I figured out how to do the small dip in the top of the bodice. We'll se how it continues to work out. I hope I don't have to return to the drawing board with this one.

So, someone told me how to figure up the cost of my "artwork." Um, yeah, I did that this morning. Yeah. Shocked. Shell shocked.

181 DAYS REMAINING!!!!!
